So I am going to find out very quickly who actually reads my LJ anymore...
I am currently posting any and all fic that was complete, near complete or needing to be added to to complete series today and will post my last chapter for Legacy of Valor tomorrow, marking what will be my retirement from fanfic. After 17 years I need to close shop and unlike the last couple of times, this time I'm really okay with it and ready to move on. I updated.posted the following:
Die Another Day Helping Hand Impact of Power: Tommy (Red Turbo, Forever Red and Dino Thunder)
My retirement will be official tomorrow but if anyone sees this before then... well you're ahead of everyone else.
Thanks everyone for everything in the fanfic world - I'll still read but no more new fic.
I think there's probably just 1 chapter left, or if not a chapter and an epilogue. But I am just a little closer to finishing and when I do I am seriously considering retiring from fanfic. I've tried to leave before to work on other projects but except for one off things I think I am done with series or multi-chapter stories....
After nearly 20 years in the fanfic business perhaps it is time to bow out gracefully. I was talking to another writer that fanfic really is a younger person's game - they have more time, less commitments... so after everything I've accomplished in fandom maybe I've done enough...
Okay, so I saw Man of Steel last night and came away less than impressed, considering how many of my geeky friends were OMG!!. Yes, Henry Cavill's abs are a wonder to behold (for the short time they are on screen) but I had a lot of issues where I watched and thought... I have seen this before and now it feels like a retread. Let me explain...
( Collapse )But yeah... Not the blockbuster I expected, but good enough to hopefully greenlight a Wonder Woman film.
I know I have not been here for months but this news is too big not to share: Amazon has found and is launching a way for fanfic writers to publish and get paid!!! The world as we knew it is over; fanfic is legit and can be for profit!
In case you have been under a rock (or in a superstorm - hope you are all well flist friends!) Disney announced they have bought LucasFilms and everything associated with them today for $4 BILLION DOLLARS.
Much internet discussion is going on, from the "They ruined Power Rangers, they'll destroy Star Wars" to "New movies! Will they reboot?" to "Disney is doing right by Marvel so this is good news!"
I have been all over on this and really am at the point of 'no more' - however I will say again that the plan for episode 7 that Disney stated in the press release with a 2015 release date needs to have Hamill, Fisher and Ford in it reprising their roles with a younger cast of their kids if they want to bridge the fan/geek gap. They recast Luke, Leia and Han and they will have a fan revolt (IMHO).
Hi all. This is the first in a series of vignettes focused on former power rangers and how they find what they accomplished under the helmet had bigger impacts than just saving the world. This will be the first, and additional stories will be posted under the Impact of Power title by other authors such as Pink_Green_White_4ever, ScarletDeva and Shawn30. A FF.net community is also now set up where all the series will be archived, as well as my home website.
