I forgot to post here for anyone who gets their notifications via LJ that Whole New World is pretty much done. Chapter 10 went up on FF.net and my website Friday. As I mention in the author notes at the end, with the frozen shoulder, I'm not inclined to type a whole lot so I may or may not do an epilogue.
No updates to fic - here's why

so, I've been having problems with my right shoulder for nearly 3 months now. Moving it hurts and I finally saw an orthopedic surgeon this week who diagnosed it as frozen shoulder. This means physical therapy and pain until it works right. But in the meantime it means that an 8 hr a day job at a PC is the majority of what I want to do in regards to typing. If I'm feeling good and have time, I'll work on fic, but until I'm 100% I can't guarantee I'll want to type...

Hope you all understand.

Ms. J.

Okay, so Fanfic updates:

A "Whole New World" update got updated last night - chapter 9 can be found here. (I posted ch 8 a few weeks back, but I forgot to post here about it)

I have my Captain Power fic, "To Live for Tomorrow" - chapter 3 is <strike>currently with the beta and I will post once I get it back and make fixes.</strike> has been posted!

So still to do on the fanfic front:

Finish ch 10 and maybe an epilogue for "Whole New World"

Decide if I will add more chapters to "To Live for Tomorrow"

Pull out and dust off the started but unfinished chapters for "Going Down with the Ship" (my Buffy/Angel story)

Restart my Buffy/Angel fic "Behind These Hazel Eyes"

Finish and post found Power Ranger's fic "Choosing Partners" (I started it in 1994 before I ever posted ANY fanfiction)

Beyond that, (Gil and) I have been watching an obscene amount of the TV show "Supernatural", trying to catch up 4 seasons to start watching the new 5th season which started 3 weeks ago. I've also been reading the LJ FandomSecrets which had a secret about an AU fanfic series intertwined with the show called "The Brotherhood". I went and took a look over there and was really blown away by the mix of existing and new characters, weaving the show into this huge additional mythos and the overall creativity and writing and I can't recommend it enough if you're a fan of that kind of thing & the show. It reminds me a lot of when I was doing "Always a Ranger" where I was taking canon and adding story/scenes to the back or front of episodes, inserting additional episodes/stories into the overall season and tweaking the TV show to fit my idea of what would have made it a better series...

Anyway, that's the news on the fanfic front. Now back to work...

Ms. J.

Review: G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Okay, so I have read G.I. Joe comics since they started in the 80's. I have decades of history in this universe, so I was very much looking forward to this, even with the dreadful reviews and lowered expectations and weird casting/plot points.

So, in all the books (except for maybe 1) Scarlett and Snake-Eyes have always been an item. When the rumors about the Ripcord/Scarlett flirting came out and then the kiss, I was all "oh, I am not happy". Then I watch the film...

There are so many little scenes where you see their relationship being so very close. She calls his name and there's a real hint of something important in it. There's a scene during the first briefing of the team where they are huddled together behind everyone. When they're escaping the underwater Cobra facility, they have an arm behind one another's back.

S/SE is in this film. (of course, I see Harry/Hermione when I watch the Harry Potter films...)

Beyond that, the film is a big explosion popcorn pic, lots of tech gadgets and stuff. There are some plot things that fail (SE and Storm Shadow being kids when SS kills Hard Master, Duke and Ripcord being the focal point of the film, Baroness being mind controlled, Cobra Commander's mask, etc) but overall, there's so much for a fangirl to love (a shot of what might have been Jinx, a cameo of Brenden Frasier dressed like Flint) and just the idea of a G.I. Joe film makes this way cool and fun.

I will see again on DVD (maybe buy.... not sure yet) if for nothing else but to enjoy the SSE scenes again.

Go Joe!

Ms. J.

Hey there all. For those of you who come here because of my fanfic and know I alluded in one of the Whole New World postings that I'd been having medical problems since last fall, I am at the point in the process to explain.

Last November I started having irregular and very uncontrollable periods. In January I found from my OBGYN that it was a uterine fibroid. This meant I needed it removed. However a second ultrasound showed some inconsistencies that made my Dr. suggest a few other options, including what was our (Gil & I) final decision - do a hysterectomy. At 39 with no kids (if we do have them, we'll adopt) it was a big decision. But it seemed the only sure fire way to solve the issue and keep from having any fibroids come back.

So April 22 I had the procedure and have been recovering since. Today was my 4 week follow-up at which I found out the lab/pathology stated that there was more at work than just the fibroid, they diagnosed adenomyosis, which can only be fully treated with a hysterectomy. So I saved myself continuing issues by choosing the hysterectomy without knowing it.

Anyway, that's about it. I've got a few more weeks of restrictions before I'm 100% cleared, and maybe with this whole thing over I can concentrate on writing again.

Thanks to all of you for your support.

J.

However, I'd say keep an eye out as she never admitted anything. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5032341/1/Power_Rangers_Remixed_Dino_Thunder

All, Lauren who is a fan and reads my work on Fanfic.net informed me that chapter 1 of Legends and Heroes has been stolen. I've e-mailed the abuse mailbox at the site and informed them of the issue. Please feel free to review yourselves:

The story is Power Rangers Dino Thunder Remixed by BelaRosa17. After reviewing BelaRosa17's story starting at the end of chapter 5 through the end of chapter 6 (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4978435/5/Power_Rangers_Dino_Thunder_Remixed and http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4978435/6/Power_Rangers_Dino_Thunder_Remixed) and looking at it next to my story at chapter 1 (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3129006/1/Legends_and_Heroes) starting at about paragraph 15 the similarities and wording are either exact or very close with the same ideas. You can find my story also posted on my own homepage http://www.trevizo.org/legends_heroes.htm.

I have asked Fanfic.net to take action on my behalf and will not be directly addressing the author about this, prefering they do so on my behalf.

I just wanted you all to know.

Ms. J
So, I wrote here recently how I was too brain melted from the roofing job last month to write.

Well, just when I planned to start again, the pouring rain this last weekend (much needed) made Colbert not a happy cat. When it finally died down, he went out and promptly got in a cat fight, getting his ear cut up. After washing with peroxide and alcohol to clean it up, we waited to the next morning to take him to the vet. 1 surgery and nearly $500 later he seems fine, except for the very small piece of ear they had to take and some very fine stitches.

We were supposed to cone him so he won't scratch the ear, but he's so independent the minute its on him, he goes nuts and the fact he can't go outside for 10 days is more than enough stress on us and him without adding the cone (which without it, he seems just fine, as if nothing ever happened, except for an occasional ear twitch).

Because of this, he'll be house bound until the day after our 10 yr wedding anniversary, so our plans have gone poof.

Beyond that, slightly better news, Gil and I had a nice early Valentine's dinner at a restaurant in Concord called Toscana. And then Gil goes and leaves me a Valentine's card hidden in the house for the weekend while he was out of town for me to find - I got a winner in him.

Work also is stressful as training and go-lives are going on, so all this is not making for creative me. I'm sorry for those of you waiting for the next installment of the Whole New World fic. But please be assured I am still planning on getting to it.

Ms J.
So, my rug came back... they steam cleaned it and did something to make it smell like chemicals, but to get the tar out, they did end up cutting the tar from the rug. Until the smell goes away, I've banished the rug to the smallest bedroom that we don't really use.

As to the spackle job over the heater - still not done.

At least the noise is gone.

If I can get to it, I want to go into the overgrown garden and shovel out the gravel dumped there during the roofing so I can try and rescue it for the spring. A couple of Daffodils got slightly munched, so I am unsure if they will survive.

J.

They have to come back tomorrow to A. spackle over the cut up sheetrock over the wall heater and B. bring back my rug - clean, but the noise, dirt, and overall disruption is over. The smell of tar will go away with the truck when they tow the pot off and the place can get cleaned of tar dust and nails and crap and our lives can get back to normal!

I cannot express my joy!!!!!

J.

Yes, we're on day 5 now.

And on top of that, the roofers were pounding on the roof so hard, the glass cover to our kitchen light came loose and shattered on the sink. Nearly missing Gil... that I am very not happry with. he could have been seriously hurt. Oh, and they got tar on my beloved area rug that we've had now for nearly 5 years...

They are suppoed to "try" and get the tar off the rug and someone will need to replace the glass light fixture, and before they leave, they'll need to reconnect the swamp cooler, clean up the mess around the house and fix the sheet rock they cut up to fix the tar mess in the wall heater.

I have been at work so I've been saved the chaos the last 1 1/2 days, but poor Gil and Bear are still suffering through this. I am praying that they are done by sundown tonight or I'll be really pissed. I want them gone so I can get our lives back and clean the da** house.

J.
