Ummm, maybe I should just drive?

DC Metro crash story - and how it relates to BART

Scariest thing in this article is the second paragraph, that if true (it came from an anonymous source) means that the parts being used on trains could be in any kind of condition and the real reason for trains running with fewer cars could be that they just can't find replacement parts.

Uh - President Obama, could we have some redevelopment money? Please?

Ms. J.

I live in the DC area, and was temporarily terrified by that crash since my father takes the Metro home from work (thankfully, he still had two hours before he even planned on leaving work at that point). So I definitely agree there; any and all metro systems near that age with those same design specs should be upgraded, ASAP.

I saw your earlier post. I'm glad you and your family are safe. It's sort of scary that the National Transit Authority suggested the train be taken out of service 3 years ago and the brake maintenance was 2 months past due. I'm not sure about the DC Metro, but it's nearly $10 a day to ride the train - I'd like to think they're using my money to keep me safe...

Naturally it depends on where you're going, but the prices are about the same, I believe. I'm curious as to whether they're going to try and hike them up more in an attempt to get money to fix the problem; I'm fairly certain everyone in the DC/VA/MD metro area will rise up to the last person to protest if they do.
